Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cups sliced okra
  • 4 cups seafood stock
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb crab meat
  • 2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

Instructions 

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to make a roux, stirring constantly until it turns a dark brown color, about 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery to the roux. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the okra and cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in the seafood stock. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. Add the shrimp, crab meat, and Cajun seasoning. Cook until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot over rice, if desired.
