Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Andouille sausage sliced
  • 1 lb Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup Vegetable oil
  • ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 1 large Green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery chopped
  • 4 cloves Garlic minced
  • 6 cups Chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups Okra sliced
  • 3 cups Cooked white rice
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Whisk in flour to make a roux, stirring constantly until it turns a dark brown color.
  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth until smooth. Add the sausage, Cajun seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
  4. Add the okra and cook for another 10 minutes. Stir in the shrimp and cook until they are pink and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over cooked white rice.
