Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 6 medium potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft.
  3. Add the heavy cream and milk to the saucepan. Heat until just about to boil, then remove from heat.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese, salt, and pepper.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, cheese, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
