  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter 1 stick
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. In a large saucepan, combine buttermilk, sugar, butter, and corn syrup.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will bubble up, so be careful.
  4. Let the syrup cool slightly before serving. It will thicken as it cools.
